Hello,

Hi there, my name is Deirdre Read and I'm a freelance makeup artist and beauty therapist with over 35 years of experience in the beauty industry in both New Zealand and overseas. In addition to that, I also trained in Melbourne about 11 years ago to do hair, so I am proficient in both skills. When working with larger groups, I team up with my trusty sidekick Theresa. I began my career in London and continued doing makeup when I came back from the UK in Auckland.

I moved to Wanaka with my husband and 2 small boys in the early 2000’s. They are now 20 & 18. I love it here, and I appreciate that so many people want to holiday, get married or honeymoon in this truly exquisite part of the world. 

Over the years I have worked on many TV Programs & TVC productions, with most recently being MasterChef NZ 2022 as Nadia Lim and the Judges’ Hair and Makeup Artist (HMUA).

I’m truly passionate about making people feel relaxed, comfortable, safe and special with me. To help create special memories is humbling and I feel privileged and honoured to be part of it. I am also currently studying a Bachelor of Social Work with Te Pukenga.
